Britannia Adelphi Hotel, Ranelagh Place, Liverpool
A very impressive looking hotel in Merseyside
These are black and white photographs from my holiday to Liverpool in December 2014, all of these are of the hotel where I stayed:
The Britannia Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool
Once upon a time the Adelphi must have been a really amazing grade II listed Edwardian style hotel, the public spaces are all very impressive, beautiful and made great photos, something very important to me as an obsessed photographer! lol Sadly like most stories that start with once upon a time things change for the worse. That is definitely true of this hotel, the rooms themselves looked like they had not been redecorated for a couple of decades and the first room we were put in smelt like it had not been cleaned or had fresh air in it for that long either. The second room was better, but still far from perfect, such a shame from such a great looking hotel. We did have a good stay, the food wasn’t amazing, but was very edible. The staff were mostly very helpful. I see a hotel mostly as a base for a holiday rather than the actual destination, I spent a lot of time out and around Liverpool instead of being inside the hotel. Past guests there have included Winston Churchill, Harold Wilson, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Bob Dylan. This was my first ever holiday to Liverpool and I really enjoyed it, would I go back to Liverpool for another holiday? Yes! Would I stay at the Adelphi hotel again? Unless it’s had work done on it I wouldn’t. Please remember I stayed there in 2014, it may have been vastly improved by now, so don’t let my comments put you off without checking how it is now.
