Linking Support Groups With Professionals
I was kindly invited by the people at HVA Hastings Voluntary Action and RVA Rother Voluntary Action om February 2016 to photograph another one of their great events. These events were created after somebody realised that there are lots of really amazing community support groups in the Hastings and Rother area (and beyond!) that do so much good, but don't actually get much support themselves!
At their conference earlier in the year, one of the concerns that was raised was around the problems that self-help groups face when engaging with health and social care professionals on behalf of their members in a meaningful and equal way.
At this event a range of Health and Social Care Professionals had an opportunity to talk about their role, followed by a Q&A session and joint debate around the issues faced by both Professionals and those from Self-Help Groups.
HVA Hastings Voluntary Action and RVA Rother Voluntary Action facilitated this workshop in continuing with their Helping Self Help project work funded by the CCG Clinical Commissioning Groups, to support and strengthen community groups who work in some way with people with long term health conditions.
